Ajanna Brockenbaugh, LMHC
(she/her/hers)
Welcome! I am Ajanna, a licensed mental health counselor in NY. I’ve spent over a decade helping people navigate challenges, starting out working with adolescents and teens in schools before expanding my work to adults facing stress, anxiety, and life transitions. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in finance, but I realized my real passion was supporting people in finding clarity and growth. I use a mix of CBT, ACT, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing to meet you where you are and help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.
I know life can be overwhelming, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. If you're curious about therapy, let’s connect.

Change is never easy, even when you choose it. Whether you are starting over in a new city, stuck in your career, or questioning a relationship, transitions can present feelings of uncertainty, doubt, and mixed emotions. As someone who transitioned from a career in finance to becoming a therapist I know this firsthand. I understand what it’s like to step into the unknown, question your next move, and wonder if you are making the right choice. My goal is to help you navigate these moments with self-compassion, confidence, and a sense of clarity.
I understand that the process of therapy encourages some unlearning of social and cultural norms. My counseling work centers you, inviting possibility, grace for self, and the agency to re-author narratives that no longer serve you. Supporting people as they navigate the various transitions that life brings is my passion!

Common Questions:
-
Therapy can be helpful for a variety of reasons and if you are looking to explore what another source of support can look like for you, therapy can be a good place to start.
-
It is completely normal to feel uncertain during transitions. Therapy provides a supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to create a plan that aligns with your values and goals.

Therapy can provide a safe space to explore challenging thoughts or actions and actively working on strategies and perspectives to break unhelpful patterns. Therapy can support building resilience to move forward.
-
Change is a constant in life and often times a lesson is learned from the experience. Making a decision doesn’t mean you have to stay in it forever. Try something, learn from it, and determine when it is time to pivot. No regrets, just lessons learned - and the greatest lesson is what you learn about yourself along the way.
